Pinecone Bird Feeders

This week in school we have been talking about birds.  Now that it is fall we are seeing fewer and fewer of these around our house.  Little Mouse was excited when I told her that our craft this week was to make bird feeders out of pinecones.  It was such a pretty day that we decided to do our craft outside.  I’m glad we did, because it ended up being a little messy. 🙂

This was a very simple craft.  All you need is:

  • Pinecones
  • Twine
  • Peanut butter
  • Bird seed

First tie the twine around the fat end of the pinecones.

Then spread peanut butter as best as you can all over the pinecones.

You’ll then roll the coated pinecones in bird seed until it is completely covered.

Now, just find a nice place to hang the feeders for the birds to enjoy!  🙂  We are looking forward to seeing what type of birds come visit!
